What Is a Degree Reading?
The zodiac is divided into 360 degrees — 30 per sign. Each degree carries a distinct symbolic image drawn from classical astrological tradition. Where most readings stop at the sign level (e.g. "Sun in Scorpio"), a degree reading goes further: it identifies the precise 1° interval your planet occupied at birth and delivers the symbolic quality encoded in that specific degree.
The Archive of Sovereignty presents each degree reading in both the tropical system (the Western standard, aligned to the seasons) and the sidereal system (the Vedic standard, aligned to the fixed stars via the Lahiri ayanamsa). The synthesis section reads both positions together, revealing how the two frameworks layer and interact in your chart.
These readings are computed from astronomical ephemeris data — the actual positions of celestial bodies at your birth — not from simplified tables or approximations.
